A strategy and its solution won’t achieve success on their own…

My daughter just completed her first track season, and I learned a lot! Did you know that in a relay race, the fastest runner, also known as the ‘anchor,’ is usually assigned to the last leg of the race? It’s because the best runner has the most chance of making up for anything that went wrong during the earlier legs.

True of your strategy implementation as well.

Even the most successful companies can invest enormous amounts of time, talent and treasure to create an incredible strategy or solution framework that doesn’t cross the finish line. Whether it’s using a leading outside industry consultant or high-performance internal leaders or teams to build it. Unfortunately, this happens all the time. Why?

A strategy and its solution won’t achieve success on their own.

To realize the full potential of all the investment that has gone into building an amazing strategy (the plan) and comprehensive solution (the tactics). There needs to be a communications anchor, the handoff from theory to results. You’ve got to win the last leg of the race to pull the whole thing together. Recognize that HOW you communicate the message around the strategy and solution will determine the level of success achieved, not just the cleverness of the strategy. It’s all about getting people to believe and take action.
