Marketing Manager

  • For Immediate Hire
  • San Francisco

We’re Looking for You Because:

  • You’re self-motivated. You work extremely well in a team environment, and you excel when it comes to working independently and efficiently. For you, it’s not “my way or the highway;” rather, you say, “I will get us to the highway.” And you will figure it out, grab the help you need, and get it done. Period.
  • You’re a project ninja. You can nimbly move among web, copy creation, analytics and engaging with our team. You should read that list, above, and think, timelines, deliverables: YUP. On it.
  • Nothing slips past you. Sometimes you even surprise yourself with how many things you are able to track. You sweat the details, and as a result, nothing falls through the cracks. Your follow through is outstanding, and you love seeing all the months of hard work come to fruition.
  • You see the forest AND the trees. You spot trends across programs and initiatives, identify common pain points and opportunities for alignment and create positive connections. You take pride in your ability to catch a missing comma, or spot an opportunity to refine your message or the user’s experience.
  • Marketing excites you! You ooze enthusiasm around marketing, digital solutions, writing new copy and creating successful A/B tests. We love our jobs, and we want you to love your job, too.

This role has a unique opportunity to manage a really great mix of the best parts of B2B marketing, including:

  • Rocking and managing our website, including A/B testing, analytics, campaign conversions, new content + layouts, lead gen, optimizing, updates, SEO, SEM, etc.
  • Writing pithy messaging, including blogs, emails, social media posts, web copy and more
  • Creating case studies, client testimonials, email templates and collateral for our programs and relationship management team
  • Generating leads and leverage funnel-filling opportunities
  • Running Decker’s social media channels and email campaigns (including both strategy and execution) and leading the charge for new opportunities
  • Collaborating with our sales team (full disclosure: they can sometimes be demanding because they’re really good at their jobs)
  • Using your eye for design, and even flexing your design muscles from time to time (and no, we’re not disguising a graphic design job as a marketing manager role – see below for more detail)

You should have several examples of times when you developed, demonstrated and executed these things. And you should be eager to tell us about those times.

Why We Should Talk:

Decker Communications is expanding our 38-year old business communication training, coaching and consulting brand. We’ve grown consistently over the years, propelled by happy clients and incredible referrals, like this experience shared in USA Today.

Decker is one of the best teams you’ll ever join. On the outside (for our clients), we empower others to connect, influence and inspire. And in the process, we transform business communication. On the inside, we’re smart, dedicated, energized, and fueled by our five core values (and you should be, too). Owning it is just as important as having fun, and relationships matter around here. A lot.

We’re thrilled to be expanding our marketing efforts and team, as we move from exclusively offering only in-person training experiences to including a host of new virtual trainings and ongoing coaching options for our clients’ disparate and flexibility-craving workforces. That’s where you come in…

Specific Skills You’ll Need:

(Read: If you can’t nod your head “yes” to each of these, don’t waste your time applying)

  • References who will agree: You’re crazy reliable
  • Extraordinary writing skills: You’re pithy, grammatically accurate, thoughtful and you embrace feedback and editing (though your first draft starts out so darn good that you wouldn’t cringe if a client caught a glimpse of it).
  • Get It Factor
  • High Proficiency in Google Docs, Microsoft Office, Social Media platforms
  • Proficiency with Google Analytics and Adwords, email marketing and dashboards of marketing metrics
  • Proficiency with design software: Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Powerpoint/Keynote (yes, we’re including those as design tools)
  • Experience working with senior leaders
  • Experience developing or building marketing campaigns
  • B.S. or B.A. plus 3-5 years of related work experience
  • Bonus points: Experience using Salesforce platform
  • Bonus points: Experience with video editing
  • Wild bonus points: If you can code (And if you can’t, well, neither can we. We work with some awesome external folks who do, though.)

Compensation: Competitive salary and comprehensive benefit package including health, dental, vision, 401k, profit sharing, HSA, FSA, long-term disability and pre-tax commuter benefits. Plus, a solid future with high-growth market-leading firm.

How to apply:    Email Dani (dani@decker.com) with a resume and a brief cover letter that

(1) outlines why you’re the right person for the role,

(2) identifies your favorite bullet point from the description, above, and

(3) explains why.

We’ll begin reviewing applications right away, so don’t dally. We’ve got a good feeling about this.
